About the Role
At Narrabri Shire Council, we're committed to facilitating quality development while maintaining high standards of safety, compliance and customer service.
We're seeking an Assistant Building Certifier to work closely with Council's Senior Building Certifier across a range of certification, inspection and compliance activities. This is an excellent opportunity to build your career while gaining exposure to a diverse mix of technical, regulatory and customer-focused work.
In this role, you'll:
- Assess building applications and supporting documentation.
- Undertake building inspections and assist with compliance matters.
- Issue certificates and approvals in accordance with relevant legislation.
- Provide advice and support to applicants, builders, developers and the community.

About You
You're a motivated and customer-focused professional who enjoys working in a regulatory environment and delivering practical outcomes for the community. You have strong attention to detail, sound technical knowledge and the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
To succeed in this role, you'll have:
- Qualifications in Building Certification or a related discipline.
- Knowledge of relevant NSW building and planning legislation, the NCC and Australian Standards.
- Strong communication, organisational and time-management skills.
- A current NSW Class C Driver Licence and White Card.
Previous experience in NSW local government building certification will be highly regarded.
