About the Role

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Manager Tourism and Cultural Services to lead a high-performing, community facing team across our Tourism, Libraries, Community Development, and Events functions.

In this role, you’ll drive tourism growth, celebrate local culture, and strengthen community connection. You’ll oversee the Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre, lead the delivery of vibrant events, and develop strategies that attract visitors and investment to our region. In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and inspiring a team to deliver exceptional tourism and community outcomes.
  • Providing oversight and continuous improvement of Council’s library services, ensuring they remain inclusive, accessible, and responsive to community needs
  • Identifying and facilitating sustainable tourism growth opportunities through strategic planning and partnerships.
  • Overseeing the promotion and delivery of our library services, tourism and cultural programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Building strong relationships with local businesses, community groups, and government stakeholders.
  • Managing funding submissions and event bids to maximise economic and social benefits for the Shire.
  • Contributing to the Integrated Planning and Reporting framework through effective implementation and performance tracking.

About You

You will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in tourism, library, community development, or cultural services. 
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and stakeholder relationships.
  • A collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to influence and build trust.
