We are a values-based organisation seeking a passionate and strategic leader to help shape Narrabri’s future through planning, compliance, and economic development.

The Director Development and Compliance is a key executive leadership role within Narrabri Shire Council, responsible for driving sustainable growth, ensuring robust regulatory compliance, and supporting economic development initiatives that deliver positive outcomes for our community. This is a unique opportunity for a visionary leader to make a tangible impact while fostering a workplace culture grounded in integrity, unity, and trust.

As a member of our Executive Leadership Team, you will lead a diverse portfolio, including:

  • Statutory and Strategic Planning

  • Regulatory and Compliance Services

  • Economic Development

You will be accountable for ensuring statutory processes are timely and solutions-focused, building trusted relationships with stakeholders, and delivering outcomes aligned with Council’s strategic objectives. Importantly, you will also play a central role in major initiatives, such as the activation of our industrial port precinct and facilitating residential growth projects to build the future of our Shire.

A sound understanding of the legislative, social, and political frameworks in which NSW local government operates is critical.

Join a dynamic organisation where your leadership can make a tangible difference—help Narrabri Shire to be the best we can be.
