About the Role

The Development Planner will be responsible for conducting statutory and strategic planning in a timely and professional manner, with customer satisfaction being central to the process. This role will contribute to a culture of positive, discretionary, and resilient staff and will aim to exceed customers' expectations by delivering a customer-centric service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out robust development assessment within the relevant statutory framework.
  • Preparing reports and representing Council as needed.
  • Reviewing and advising on major project applications.
  • Aiming to have Development Applications (DAs) determined within 20 days.
  • Researching and preparing technical reports for Council's determination.
  • Having a sound understanding of applicable local government planning/building/compliance legislation.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Urban and Regional Planning, Science or equivalent discipline with demonstrated experience in Town Planning / Development Assessment, within a local government context
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to lead and influence others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and connect with communities.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in managing complex projects.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality work within set timeframes.
  • A good understanding of local government planning and compliance legislation.
