About Us

The Crossing Theatre is a multi-purpose venue located in Narrabri. It serves as a cafe, movie theatre, conference centre, function room, and dining establishment. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional service and memorable experiences for our customers.

About the Role

Working alongside our Head Chef and Sous Chef you will combine on and off the job training and learning in all aspects of catering operations and production. Some responsibilities of the role are:

  • Use methods of cookery as shown by the Chef and as learned through formal studies.
  • Assist with mise en place, cooking, and presentation of meals and function catering as directed by the Chef.
  • Operate and maintain commercial cooking equipment such as stoves, ovens, fryers, and bench top equipment.
  • Arrange food items aesthetically pleasing on serving plates.
  • Track, record, rotate, and replenish stock as required.
  • Actively observe, learn, and practice commercial cookery as per requirements of the training contract.
  • Ensure study requirements are met and training contract is followed with the support of the Head Chef.
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety programs and relevant Health and Safety regulations and promote a culture of essential hygiene practices. related to catering operations and the importance of clean, tidy, and hygienic working practices.

About You

We are looking for an Apprentice Chef who is passionate about food, eager to learn, and has excellent interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate should be able to work well under pressure, take direction, and have strong organisational and time management skills. A positive attitude and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service are also essential.

As an Apprentice, you will be compensated in accordance with the Apprenticeship/Traineeship pay scale outlined in the Local Government (State) Award 2023, in addition to receiving superannuation benefits.
