Water Services Team Leader - 12 Month Opportunity

  • Nine day fortnight
  • $71,890.60 - $79,550.27 per annum plus superannuation
  • 12 month opportunity

ABOUT COUNCIL

At Narrabri Shire Council we are apart of a community that values integrity and leadership, with a strong customer focus on the delivery quality of services. Working in the Infrastructure Delivery Directorate, the Water Services Team Leader will supervise and assist in maintaining the safety, quality and supply of drinking water and operation of the sewerage systems and treatment facilities for the Narrabri Shire. With immediate availability, these positions will see you working locally and across the Shire. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Water Services Team Leader, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our community members by ensuring reliable water services are provided efficiently and sustainably. The responsibilities of the role includes:

  • Provide support and advice on operational issues to the Water Services Coordinator, including; Identifying, recommending, and implementing approved opportunities for cost-saving and efficiencies in operation.
  • Carrying out tasks to minimise errors, wastage, and product variations.
  • Train and mentor the water and wastewater team to maximise their performance in providing an effective and efficient service to the ratepayer.
  • Plan and schedule daily repairs and maintenance work for water service operators and contractors, including facilitating the identification, assessment, and control of risks.
  • Supervise repairs and maintenance work for water service operators and contractors, including quality control monitoring and oversight.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about the water industry and dedicated to providing exceptional service. The ideal candidate will possess: 

  • Certificate III in Water Industry Operations (or equivalent), with experience performing general labouring duties and operating small plant and equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards for the operation, maintenance and construction of water and sewerage infrastructure.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal), with the proven ability to build effective relationships and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders (both internal and external).
  • Proven ability to manage change in a challenging and complex working environment while working under constant pressure to meet statutory requirements and business management deadlines.
