About the Role

As our Open Spaces Coordinator, you will step into a leadership position and report directly to the Parks and Open Spaces Manager. You’ll oversee the management and presentation of Narrabri’s parks, reserves, cemeteries, and public spaces, making a visible impact across the community. In this role, you will:

  • Oversee Council's three cemeteries, managing both the grounds and the provision of cemetery services, ensuring they are delivered with dignity and care.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a dedicated team of gardeners, ensuring excellence in the care and maintenance of public spaces.
  • Manage budgets for parks, open spaces, cemeteries, and capital works projects, monitoring both revenue and expenditure.
  • Stay up to date on legislation, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
  • Create efficient work schedules that align with Council’s service levels for open spaces and public amenities.
  • Identify innovative, cost-effective opportunities to improve the aesthetic appeal and functionality of public spaces.
  • Apply a proactive approach to risk management, ensuring safe, accessible environments for work and leisure.

About You

As our Open Spaces Coordinator, you will have:

  • Relevant qualifications in horticulture, arboriculture, parks and gardens, or landscape design.
  • Proven experience and achievements in horticulture and arboriculture.
  • A track record of leading and managing outdoor teams to deliver services with consistency and efficiency.
