About The Role

As a Mechanic at Narrabri Shire Council, some of your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Assist in the daily activities in Council’s workshop.
  • Perform maintenance tasks, including inspection and servicing of heavy plant and equipment, trucks, light vehicles and small plant with minimum disruption to works and construction activities.
  • Perform fault diagnosis and obtain parts and materials required to effect repairs.
  • Complete and maintain accurate service, administrative records and timesheets in compliance with corporate record keeping requirements.
  • Ensure that the workshop, tools and equipment are kept clean and maintained in an appropriate condition so as to promote a better workshop environment.

About You

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be widely skilled with a Mechanical Trade Qualification - Certificate III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or an equivalent. 
  • Have substantial relevant experience in the repair and maintenance of various fleet, heavy earthmoving plant and machinery.
  • Have the ability to diagnose and rectify mechanical faults.
  • Have demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and lead and supervise employees.
  • Be a proactive individual who can work well in a team environment.
  • Have excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail.

What We Offer

We offer a negotiable salary based on your skills and experience. In addition, you'll enjoy ongoing professional development opportunities and a 9-day fortnight (1 Rostered Day Off every fortnight) to help you achieve a healthy work-life balance. This is a Monday to Friday role with working hours from 7:00am to 4:00pm, including a 30-minute break.
